MI-VINE receives participating custody and court data. It can report events such as release, transfer, or escape when the reporting agency supplies them. That makes it useful for timely Newaygo County custody notice. A released status supports that custody at the named reporting agency changed. It does not certify unrestricted community status. A transfer, federal pickup, immigration detainer, escape, death, or data correction can also change what a custody tool displays. Record the source and access time, then use a second source.
For a local case, the second source should answer a different part of the event. Newaygo County’s 78th District Court can show arraignment, bail, and preliminary felony proceedings. The 27th Circuit Court public-case route can show a bound-over felony’s plea, judgment, and sentence. A court entry may explain why release was authorized, while the Sheriff’s booking record supplies the physical release time. Neither should be replaced with a VINE status label.

It does not remove the need to verify the matched record. A move may cross to an agency or system that does not continue the same registration, and the public status may lag. After any alert, confirm the reporting agency, the event type, and whether registration remains active for the new custodian.
Eligible victims who need fuller state-prison notices, including parole eligibility, hearing, or decision information, must separately contact MDOC Crime Victim Services at 877-886-5401. A county VINE registration is not the complete statutory victim-notice program.
A person can therefore have two valid notice paths at once. MI-VINE follows the participating custody record and its offered events. MDOC Crime Victim Services handles qualifying state-prison and parole notices that may not be part of the county registration. Keep confirmation details from each system separate so a transfer alert is not mistaken for a final release notice.
Newaygo County Jail or MDOC

Newaygo County VINELink Limits
VINELink is not a federal inmate locator. Newaygo County Jail houses some West Michigan District U.S. Marshals detainees, but a move from the county building may be federal transport rather than release. A pretrial USMS detainee may not appear in the Bureau of Prisons locator because BOP designation has not occurred.
